At present (as 01.10.2025) the Institute has 1 Academician, 1 Corresponding Member, 10 Doctors of Science and more than 20 Candidates of Science among its employees; 7 employees of the Institute are the recipients of the State Science and Technology Prizes, and 7 persons have been granted with personalized academic and governmental awards.

RANIMI has 6 basic scientific divisions in its structure and 2 youth laboratory:
- Rock Pressure Department (Department Head is the Doctor of Engineering Science, Senior Researcher Boris Valentinovich Khokhlov);
- Soil Surface Displacement and Undermined Structures Protection Department (Department Head is the Doctor of Engineering Science, Professor Nickolay Nickolaevich Grishchenkov);
- Computer Technology Department (Department Head is the Doctor of Engineering Science Victor Valerievich Trofimov);
- Environmental and Geophysical Research Department (Department Head is Victor Vladimirovich Tumanov);
- Hydrogeomechanical Research and Mineral Wealth Protection Department (Department Head is the Candidate of Engineering Science Evgeniy Nikolaevich Shevchenko);
- Geological Department (Department Head is the Doctor of Engineering Science, Professor Tatyana Petrovna Volkova);
- Youth Laboratory Department for the Issues of Geomechanics of the Fluid-Saturated Rock Masses (Department Head is the Doctor of Engineering Science Natalia Aleksandrovna Dubrova);
